Description
An introduction to an analogue black and white photography process, from film to print. An information session on black and white film will be given on Tuesday 23rd April from 6.30-8.00pm open to any MIPP member. The following weekend session, taking place on the 27th and 28th of April will be held at the MIPP premises, where attendees will have the opportunity to shoot a range of 35mm cameras. A constant lighting set-up will be prepared for portraits at the studio with a professional model. All films will be processed during a hands-on workshop in the afternoon. The following day will comprise of a half-day printing demonstration. A couple of frames from the studio shoot will be used to develop 8×10 prints.
Session 1 – Talk and discussion – Tuesday, 23rd April from 6.30PM
Session 2 – Shoot followed by film processing: Saturday, 27th April from 9.00AM -5.00PM
4hrs + 3hrs, +/- hour Morning: • Portrait session to try out all the cameras Afternoon: • Film Developing session • Negatives will be taken with me to digitise • Guests will receive high res digitised copies of all the photos. The 2 most popular ones will be printed the following day.
Session 3 – Silver Gelatin printing demonstration: Sunday, 28th April from 9.00AM
4hrs • A live printing demonstration of the two selected frames will take place with the students • The whole process will be discussed step by step along the way.
Maximum 8 students, light snacks, tea, coffee and water provided. Students are recommended to bring their own lunch for the Saturday session.
